James
Wright is a certified Risk Manager (CRM) and one of Canada's
leading experts in risk management. He is the Chairman of the
Canadian Standards Association's Risk Management Technical Committee
and the principal author of the Canadian risk management standard;
CAN/CSA - Q850-97 Risk Management: Guideline for Decision-makers.
In 1997, Jim developed and implemented an integrated risk management
program for Transport Canada and NavCanada. To facilitate this
program, he developed the Aeronautical Study Process; a framework
that both Transport and NavCanada continue to use for identifying
and evaluating risks associated with proposed changes to air
navigation services (ANS).
Jim
was lead author of a discussion paper for Natural Resources
Canada (NRCan) integrating a public consultation/risk communication
model into the overall risk management decision process. Jim
is currently aiding a number of federal departments in their
efforts to develop risk management policies and strategies
for implementing system-wide, value-added risk management.
Jim also develops and delivers training programs related to
risk management, risk communication and public involvement.
He has delivered technical papers at numerous national and
international conferences in the area of risk management and
risk communication and lectured at universities in Canada
and the US.
